Easy ways to make the perfect lemon drop martini
Sweet or Sour, It’s All Up To You
Another citrus-based drink I love and this one can be sweet or sour by easily adjusting the recipe. Getting closer to warmer weather, refreshing and citrusy drinks take more place in my mind. Lemon Drop was created in the ’70s, described as a type of martini made with vodka.
Sweet and Sour Balancing Each Other
Lemon is an extremely sour fruit and sugar is an extremely sweet ingredient. It’s not easy to balance these two and the enjoyment of the taste differs for everyone when it comes to lemon. It’s also important to serve Lemon Drop in a glass with a large rim to let the drink exposed to more air, let you smell it while drinking. Don’t forget the importance of smelling the flavour while drinking because the flavour of this drink comes from the smell of it, too.
Lemon Drop Recipe
You will find recipes with plain Vodka but I highly recommend you use citron vodka such as Absolut Citron to catch the best flavour. Don’t hesitate to play with the ratios to get the perfect taste for yourself but here’s mine:
- 2 parts Citron Vodka
- 1 part Triple Sec
- 1 part Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1,5 parts Simple Syrup
First, prepare your glass by chilling it. Then rim it with a slice of lemon and caster sugar. Put all in a shaker with lots of ice, shake well until chilled for around 15-20 seconds. Strain to your prepared glass, twist a lemon peel and garnish!
Due to its nature, this drink is sometimes referred to as “Lemon Drop Martini”. It’s also possible to create alternatives with other fresh fruits by adding mulled fruits. If you like fresh fruit cocktails, check out the Chambord Martini recipe made with fresh berries.
You don’t have to use citron vodka but if you use plain, you should add more fresh lemon juice to gather the flavour together.
