Maple Mule Cocktail with Wild Atlantic Distillery’s Irish Gin
After trying one in August, I subscribed to Craft Gin Club‘s monthly boxes as of September. I was excited about the Wild Atlantic Distillery‘s Irish Gin when I got the September box with all the ingredients for a maple mule cocktail. So here’s a bit delayed post about Craft Gin Club, Wild Atlantic Distillery and the maple mule cocktail, of course.
First of all, I’m one of those who thinks that a cocktail should look beautiful. The same goes for the bottles for me. And Wild Atlantic Distillery’s bottle was an absolute love at first sight!
The gin has a remarkable herbal smell that stays with you when you taste it. You can feel the freshness of the citrus and the spices, along with that herbal taste. I love a good gin and tonic, but I decided to try the Craft Gin Club’s recommended cocktail first. I have never made or tried a maple mule cocktail. As a curious person always looking to try new tastes, I immediately went for it.
About Craft Gin Club
Craft Gin Club is a UK-based company that sends crafted gin or rum boxes to their subscribers every month. The boxes also include delicious mixers, snacks and a very fun-to-read magazine. They work with British and global brands. It’s a great way to discover and try new tastes for a fair price. ANd also supporting niche businesses.
One of the greatest advantages of getting a box from Craft Gin Club is that everything comes ready to use. It makes mixing a delicious cocktail very easy. I followed the exact recipe from the recipe card. Maple mule cocktail syrup is one of the ingredients you get with the box for this cocktail. It’s a small bottle of 50 ml. But you don’t need to be concerned about finishing it for just 2 cocktails. You can get more on the company’s website. Or if you’re up for it, you can make more for yourself just by looking at the ingredients. This one is made with lime, sugar and water, protected by some regulators.
Craft Gin Club’s box also had the ginger ale from Lixir that tasted great plain itself.
One of the most important things to pay attention to while making a cocktail is using the best, high-quality ingredients as much as possible. Just because you’re mixing different flavours does not mean that you won’t taste, feel and distinguish the good ones from the bad ones.
What is a maple mule cocktail
A maple mule cocktail is very similar to the well-known Moscow mule cocktail with some twists. Vodka is the main spirit for a Moscow mule cocktail, but we use gin for this maple mule version. Adding some maple flavour brings out the sweetness, finishing by topping up with a good ginger ale.
How to make a maple mule cocktail
Maple mule is a cocktail made by stirring, not shaking. And you do the stirring in your drinking glass, you don’t need a mixing jar.
Fill up your old-fashioned glass with lots of ice. I like to keep my glasses in the fridge before I start making the cocktail so that the ice will be less diluted when making the cocktail.
For one glass of delicious maple mule cocktail, pour 50 ml of Wild Atlantic Distillery’s gin into your glass.
The second ingredient going into the cocktail glass is the maple mule syrup that comes with the Craft Gin Club’s September box. You need the half of the small maple mule syrup bottle because you need 25 ml for one cocktail.
After stirring the first two ingredients well, top up your glass with Lixir ginger ale.
Garnish your drink with a twisted lime peel and enjoy!
This is a very well-balanced cocktail with its sourness coming from ginger, the sweetness coming from maple, and refreshing notes coming from the Wild Atlantic Distillery’s Irish gin.
I’m going to keep getting more of Craft Gin Club’s boxes, and I will publish more here as I try new recipes. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram. Cheers!
